MOVIPREP COLONOSCOPY PREPARATION

Purchase these laxatives:
1. MoviPrep (prescription only)- This contains Four pouches (two letter A pouches and two letter B pouches) and a disposable container.

The DAY BEFORE your colonoscopy: Clear Liquids Only
Asolutely No Solid Food

Drink only clear liquids.
Examples of clear liquids: Water, clear fruit juices such as apple or white grape, chicken or beef bouillion, jello (no RED or PURPLE), clear Gatorade, popsicles (no RED or PURPLE), clear soft drinks, coffee without cream or sugar.

NO MILK OR MILK PRODUCTS. NO ORANGE JUICE. NO RED OR PURPLE JELLO OR JUICES.

3 PM: Add one pouch A and one pouch B into the disposable container. Add lukewarm drinking water to the top of the line of the container. Mix to dissolve.

The MoviPrep container is divided by 4 marks. Every 15 minutes drink the solution down to the next mark (approx 8 oz.) until the liter is complete.

5 PM: Repeat the steps from 3 PM.

Drink 16 oz. of the clear liquid of your choice.

NOTHING BY MOUTH AFTER MIDNIGHT.

The DAY OF your colonoscopy:
You may take any necessary medications with a sip of water.
Bring along someone to take you home.

No aspirin, aspirin by-products or plavix for 1 week prior to your colonscopy. No coumadin for 5 days or check with your physician who orders the coumadin. Please contact the physican that prescribed the asprin, plavix, and coumadin to see if this is acceptable.

REMEMBER: The preparation is very important. An adequate clean out allows for the best evaluation of your entire colon. During the prep, using baby wipes may ease some of your discomfort.

You hould NOT plan on working or driving the rest of the day due to sedation given at the procedure.
